Wychavon Grant Success!

Wychavon District Council - good services, good value

The village hall has been awarded a Wychavon District Council grant as part of the hall's 2006 - 2011 Refurbishment Programme.

The grant of £900, awarded under the Wychavon 2011 Community Grants Scheme, has been put towards the cost of installing infra-red "booster" heaters in the stage area of the hall. This area, now called the Committee room, is commonly used for Committee and Parish Council meetings as well as exercise classes and smaller parties that don't require use of the whole hall.

As the Committee room can be easily divided from the rest of the hall by use of the stage curtains at one end and the sliding doors at the other, the heaters will benefit users by quickly heating the Committee room without trying to heat the whole of the hall. This will also have a knock on effect of reducing heating bills and helping to keep the hall hire charges at their current level.

Many thanks to the Wychavon team for their consideration and approval of this eco-friendly project.

Sincere thanks also to Rous Lench Parish Council, which awarded an additional £500 towards the project.

As with all improvements to the hall, the remainder of the funding for this project was raised by events held at the hall. The continued support of all residents and friends is very much appreciated!

Do we have a speeding problem?

The villages of Rous Lench and Radford are centred around two "B" roads which, whilst covered by speed limits, are quite straight in sections and vehicles often travel in excess of the stated limits. What do you think? Is our safety put at risk? Should something be done to encourage drivers to slow down?

Skittles evening a great success

On Saturday 15th October 2011 we held our first skittles evening at the village hall. We hired a professional alley and the competition was intense. Over 60 people enjoyed an evening of fun and a fabulous two course supper.
